Barbados
Even though I'm from Barbados, I've really only been there twice: Once when I was 6, and in January 2025 for my aunt's birthday celebration. She had us in this huge airbnb in the countryside that looked over the ocean. This was another trip where I didnt really use my camera much; most of the photos are from when we first left the airport and made it to the airbnb.
Whenever I tell people I'm west indian, barbados is always their last guess- which isn't all bad, I guess. A lot of people just don't know barbados exists. Sometimes they don't recognize the country until I mention Rihanna's from there. You'd think more people knew about the country since it is partially tourist-driven, but people really don't. And in a way, I think I enjoy that. If anything, I'll take it over the total opposite where a country's so flooded with tourists and influencers that it ruins the whole island experience.
After staying there for only a week, I decided that barbados would be my place of retirement. I mean, good weather all year round(80 degrees in january!), great food everywhere, and a government that actually cares for the betterment of their citizens. what else could I need, hah
of course, every country has it's pros and cons. 1 US dollar are 2 bajan dollars, which means things can quickly get expensive. and apparently their crime rate's been increasing as of recent. but hey, not everywhere can be perfect. (insert shrug emoji here)
