How to stay consistent(and basically not burn out)

ok so this is such an overlooked concept. so many times in the past ive started a language and i become a literal tryhard.. then before you know it, by next week, i'm over it.😭 so yeah it's really important to have a good consistent study routine. something that won't burn you out.

my #1 piece of advice for not getting burnt out when learning a language is to just, know your limits. if your daily 15 minutes of practice start to feel like a chore, just don't practice that day. there's always tomorrow, anyhow. the issue is that you'll start connecting that negative feeling of doing a chore with the studying, and you'll start to dread doing it everyday. then it's not fun anymore.

this is why i have beef with apps that "gamify" the whole learning experience and try to make you do your "streak" everyday. you really dont have to practice everyday and you're obviously gonna get burnt out if you're forced to everyday in order to fulfill a meaningless streak. youll start putting in less and less effort into the lessons after a point because all that'll really matter to you is keeping that fire lit.cough cough duolingo

anywho.

It's really important to have a good study routine. like yeah i study 15 minutes a day but, what is it that you study everyday? it's good to have an outline of what youre gonna learn, sortof like a planner. i.e on mondays and wednesdays I'll learn this, tuesdays and thursdays this etc.

here's an example of what i mean.

Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday
nouns, speaking practice articles and pronouns verbs input(intake media)

this prevents you from sitting down at your desk, all prepared to start studying, then just being lost like What Am I Even Studying
(i am a victim of this)
